Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm defeated the Sioux Falls Stampede 2-1 Friday night at the Viaero Center. Adam Goodsir and Keaton Pehrson scored the Storm goals and Jake Barczewski picked up the win in net for the Storm. Tri-City will host Sioux Falls  Saturday at 7:35 p.m. for “Make-A-Wish” Night at the Viaero Center.

Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 8-4 in the opening period but couldn’t beat Stampede goaltender Mikhail Berdin. The first period ended with neither team scoring a goal. The Storm scored the game’s first goal at the 10:24 mark of the 2nd period as Adam Goodsir netted his 10th goal of the season. The goal came on the power play and was assisted by Hugo Blixt and Bryan Yoon. Blixt recorded his 16th assist on the goal and Bryan Yoon registered his team leading 29th assist on the year. Just over one minute later, Tri-City added another goal to increase the lead to two goals. Keaton Pehrson scored his 5th goal of the year at 11:32 of the 2nd period with Jack Summers picking up the lone assist on the even strength goal. Summer’s recorded his 9th assist of the season on the goal that gave Tri-City a 2-0 lead. Sioux Falls answered minutes later with a power play goal to cut the Tri-City lead in half. Artem Ivanyuzhenkov scored his 20th goal of the season to put the Stampede on the scoreboard at 14:22 of the 2nd period. The goal was assisted by Kevin Conley and was the final goal scored in the game. Neither team found the back of the net in the 3rd period, and Tri-City survived a late 6 on 4 attack from Sioux Falls to pick up the home victory.

The Storm improved to 29-19-1-2 and 13-11-1-0 at home in the win. Tri-City also jumped Lincoln for 5th place in the Western Conference standings with 61 points on the year. The Storm now have 9 games remaining in the regular season schedule and two games left on the weekend. Tri-City will travel to Omaha on Sunday after hosting Sioux Falls again tomorrow night. Jake Barczewski stopped 15 of 16 Stampede shots to record his 10th career USHL victory in the Storm’s win. Keaton Pehrson was named the game’s 1st Star for his game winning goal in the 2ndperiod. Adam Goodsir picked up 2nd Star honors after scoring the game’s 1st goal at 10:24 of the 2nd period. Bryan Yoon was named the game’s 3rd Star after recording a secondary assist on Goodsir’s goal.
