GOTHENBURG – The Gothenburg Girls hit 43% of their shots on the way to scoring 56 points and winning their third game of the season with a 56-47 win Friday night over Holdrege. The Duster Boys got their first win of the year by blowing out the Swedes 63-33.

In the girls game Alexis Bliven scored 16 points to lead all scorers  including  a 40 footer at the buzzer to end the first quarter. She was one of a trio of Swedes in double-figures including Kaitlyn Kleinknecht with 15 points and Annica Harm who had 12 points. Jirsie Kline lead the way for the Dusters with nine points.

Gothenburg is now 3-3, Holdrege falls to 1-3.

The boys game showcased two teams that were struggling a  bit during the early part of the season. Holdrege, was looking for their first win and Gothenburg, who got their first win the night before.

The Dusters came out aggressive and on fire, jumping out to a 12-3 lead and never looking back; leading 31-15 at halftime, 44-23 after three quarter and not letting off the gas to get their first winning by 30.

Matt Anderson and Drake Johnson lead the way for Holdrege scoring 11 points a piece. Jackson Hilyard was the catalyst for the Dusters and was also in double-figures with 10 points.

It was a tough night for the Swedes as their offense never solved the Holdrege defense. Maquire Bartlett led the score for Gothenburg with eight points.

The Dusters move to 1-3 with the win the Swedes fall to 1-5.
