The University of Nebraska at Kearney Men’s Basketball Team started the season with a record of 1-2, and now they have reeled off two straight wins. On Saturday, November 17th, they took down Colorado-Springs 83-73. It was a 40-26 lead at halftime for UNK that set the tone, and in the second half, they maintained that lead. It was Kyle Juhl who led UNK with 19 points.
UNK then beat Colorado Mines 67-60 on Sunday, November 18th. In the first half, both teams struggled shooting the ball as Colorado Mines had a 26-23 lead at halftime. In the second half, UNK bounced back and outscored Colorado Mines 44-34 to secure the win. It was the freshman, Kanon Koster, leading the way for UNK with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
This week UNK has a pair of games. First, they will take on Wayne State on the road. So far the Wildcats are 4-1. They will be led by Trevin Joseph Jr. The senior guard can do a little bit of everything as last year he hit 48 three’s to lead the team. So far he is averaging around 17 points per game for the Wildcats. He will be the one that the Lopers need to contain to seal a victory. That game will be on Tuesday, November 27th at 7 P.M. On Saturday, December 1st, UNK will battle Mount Marty College. Mount Marty is an NAIA school that is still trying to find their way early in this season. That game is set for 2 P.M. and that can be heard on 93.1 The River with pregame set for 1:50 P.M.
