Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team move up three spots to third in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (ACA) Division II Top 25 poll. The Lopers (28-2, 14-2) won twice on the road last weekend and are now tied with No. 11 Washburn (26-2, 14-2) for first place in the MIAA.
Regardless what the Ichabods due this weekend at home, UNK can share the 2018 MIAA regular season crown by beating Missouri Western State and Northwest Missouri State Friday and Saturday. UNK tallied 1,020 points, as well as one first place vote, this week to trail only new No. 1 Cal State San Bernardino (1,149; 24 first place) and Western Washington (1,137, 20 first place). Besides UNK and WU, the other Central Region teams in the poll are Minnesota-Duluth (No. 4), Northern State (No. 5), Concordia-St. Paul (No. 6), Southwest Minnesota State (No. 9), Central Missouri (No. 15) and Central Oklahoma (No. 17).
Northwest, Sioux Falls and Wayne State are among the others receiving votes. The all-important NCAA Region Rankings will be released on Wednesday afternoon. UNK was ranked fourth last week with the three teams in front – Concordia, Washburn and Northern – all losing over the weekend.
