Wayne State hosts NSIC South Division foes Winona State and Upper Iowa in men’s basketball this weekend at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. The ‘Cats are 11-3 on the season and tied for second in the NSIC South with a 6-2 league mark heading into Friday’s 7:30 p.m. matchup against Winona State, who is 5-9 and 2-6 in the NSIC. Upper Iowa starts the weekend at 6-8 and 3-5 in league play. The teams faced each other just over one month ago (December 7-8) on the road with WSC winning 82-80 in overtime at Winona State and 83-56 in Fayette against the Peacocks.
The Wayne State College women’s basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Rice Auditorium this weekend, hosting Winona State Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and Upper Iowa Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. contest. The ‘Cats are 9-5 overall and 4-4 in the NSIC entering Friday’s matchup against the Warriors, who are just ahead of WSC in the NSIC South Division at 5-3 in league play and 7-5 overall. UIU starts the weekend at 3-13 and 0-8 in the NSIC. One month ago (December 7-8), WSC won 68-60 at Upper Iowa followed by a 61-56 loss at Winona State.
