The NAIA released the Daktronics/NAIA Scholar-Athletes for baseball and softball last week with a Doane (Neb.) student-athlete represented on each list. Receiving honors in baseball this year was Ty Haase (Jr./West Point, Neb./West Point-Beemer HS) while softball was represented by Jordan Van Roy (Jr./Elkhorn, Neb./Papillion-LaVista HS).
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better and be of junior or senior academic status.
Haase played in 45 games this year and scored 27 runs while stealing eight bases. He also posted a 1.000 fielding percentage for the Tigers. Doane went 27-25 overall and finished with a 15-11 record in the conference to place 3rd.
Van Roy played in 46 games this season and led the Tigers with a .478 batting average with nine home runs and 46 RBIs. Doane finished with a 30-21 record and 11-9 mark in the GPAC to tie for 4th.
