MINDEN- In a game that lacked scoring and action until the final quarter, Cozad was able to take down Minden by a score of 14-7 in overtime.
Throughout the first three-quarters, each team traded three and outs and turnovers. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Minden was able to put points up on the board. The points came off of a nine play, 97-yard touchdown drive that took up nine minutes and 12 seconds. The points were a result of a 19-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Lovin to Thomas Miller. This score came with just under six minutes to go in the ball game, and that made the score 7-0
Cozad though, was able to answer back with a touchdown of their own on a 63-yard touchdown drive that was capped off by a one-yard touchdown run from quarterback Klint Gill. The conversion was good and the teams were Knotted up at 7.
Minden was unable to score before the final horn so we played extra football. In overtime, Cozad had the ball first and scored on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Adam Cole to Jordan Menagh. Minden took the ball on their possession and was unable to score.
For Minden, Eddie Gonzalez had 87 yards and Cozad’s offensive leader was Matt Menagh with 72 yards.
Minden is now 3-3 and will face Kearney Catholic next week. And for Cozad, they will face Gothenburg.
