An exhibition game at Nebraska and 15 home games highlight the 2018-19 Wayne State College men’s basketball schedule released Wednesday by Wildcat head coach Jeff Kaminsky. The schedule is also highlighted by three games vs. in-region opponents from the MIAA and four non-conference home games in November.
Wayne State visits Lincoln to take on the Huskers on Thursday, November 1 with game time to be announced at Pinnacle Bank Arena. It’s the first time the teams have met since the 2007-08 campaign when the Huskers posted a 74-51 victory over the Wildcats in an exhibition contest.
The Wildcats open the regular season on November 9th and 10th at the MIAA Challenge in Warrensburg, Missouri, challenging Pittsburg State and Central Missouri.
Wayne State has four straight home non-conference contests to close out the November schedule, starting Tuesday, November 13th hosting Waldorf College at 7 p.m. The ‘Cats also face Nebraska Christian on Thursday, November 15th (7 p.m.) and then take a nine-day break before entertaining Mount Marty College on Saturday, November 24th in a 6 p.m. game followed by a Tuesday, November 27th matchup against in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney in Rice Auditorium at 7 p.m.
The 22-game Northern Sun Conference schedule begins on Saturday, December 1st at Augustana at 5:30 p.m. NSIC games this season will begin 30 minutes earlier than in previous seasons.
Wayne State’s first home NSIC games are Saturday and Sunday, December 15th and 16th hosting Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston at 4:30 and 2:30 p.m. respectively.
The Wildcats conclude the regular season on Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23 hosting Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls.
The opening round of the Northern Sun Conference Basketball Tournament will begin on Wednesday, February 27th on campus sites with the remainder of the tournament played at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota March 2-5.
Wayne State College finished the 2017-18 season with records of 14-17 overall and 9-13 in NSIC games.
