Arapahoe Girls knock off Bertrand
Bertrand-The Class D-1, No. 8 Arapahoe Girls basketball team notched their 20th victory of the season Friday night with a 45-33 win at Bertrand.
The Lady Warriors trailed 13-5 at the end of one, but outscored the Vikings 14-2 in the second quarter to take a 19-15 lead into the locker room.
Arapahoe really cranked up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, and that's what made the difference as Bertrand turned the ball over 8 times in the second quarter compared to just two times in the first quarter.
The Lady Warriors put together a big third quarter, scoring 23 points to the Vikings' 10. Arapahoe led 42-25 at the end of three.
Bertrand won the fourth quarter 8-3.
Danielle Eichenberger led all scorers with 16 points and secured 13 rebounds to earn a double-double for the Lady Warriors (20-3). Rochelle Wendland added 10 points and 10 rebounds, also good enough for a double-double.
Haley Dannehl paced the Vikings (10-8) with 14 points.
Bertrand is next action Tuesday when they play either Loomis or Elwood in the D2-8 sub district at Lexington. The Vikings are the number one seed in that sub district. Their game with either the Wolves or Pirates is set to start at 5:00 p.m.
Arapahoe is the number one seed in sub district D1-10 and will be taking on Alma on Tuesday at Southern Valley at 6:00 p.m.
