UNK Volleyball tops Central Oklahoma

EDMOND (Sept. 15) – Nebraska-Kearney showed why it's the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House in handing Central Oklahoma a three-set defeat.

The unbeaten Lopers were too strong in rolling over the Bronchos 25-14, 25-12, 25-11.

UNK, which has made 13 straight trips to the NCAA Division II national tournament and is the class of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the league. UCO dropped to 4-7 and 1-2.

The Lopers hit a sizzling .371 with 45 kills and just nine errors in 97 attacks, while UCO hit just .023 and had 11 errors in the second set alone.

Morgan Roy led the Bronchos with seven kills, while Barbara Jackson – one of six underclassmen who saw extended action in the match – added six kills. Tate Hardaker led the defense with 12 digs.

UNK's next match is Wednesday against Hastings College. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Health and Sports Center.
