Elwood Boys run away from Alma

The Elwood Boys Basketball team ran, and ran often against Alma in Tuesday night's 61-47 road win.

Trailing 4-2 early on, the Pirates quickly turned things around, going on a 13-2 run to lead 15-6 at the end of one.

Elwood won the second quarter 13-11 to extend their lead to 28-17 at halftime.

The Pirates continued to play well in the third quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 19-11 to go up 47-31 after three.

Elwood led by as many as 22.

The Pirates (6-4) were led by Skyler Werger, who poured in a game-high 19 points. Sean Clouse came off the bench to score 13 while Zack Hackbart and Blake Summer added 11 and 10, respectively.

Jarrod Bantam had 14 points to lead Alma (3-6). Brady Stuhmer notched 13 while Chris Simmons chipped in 11.

The Cardinals are next in action Friday, battling Franklin on the road. Elwood is at Maxwell on Friday.
