Huskers close out regular season this week

The No. 10 Nebraska volleyball team returns home this week to host Iowa and Northwestern in the final regular season matches of the 2012 season. The Huskers will also honor their five seniors- Lauren Cook, Paige Hubl, Gina Mancuso, Allison McNeal and Hannah Werth- following Saturday's match.

Nebraska leads the all-time series with Iowa, 15-0. The Huskers beat the Hawkeyes 3-0 in their first match-up of the season on Oct. 17 in Iowa City.

The Huskers lead the all-time series with Northwestern 4-1. Nebraska fell to Northwestern last season in a 3-1 battle in Evanston.

In addition, the Nebraska volleyball program will join the annual U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Drive for the Northwestern match on Saturday. Husker fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to the game, and cash donations for the cause will also be accepted. The Marines will be stationed near entrances throughout the NU Coliseum to accept donations that will brighten the holiday season for needy children.

The No. 10 Nebraska volleyball team made quick work of the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday afternoon, sweeping UW 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-18) at the UW Fieldhouse. The win marked the Huskers first sweep since taking down Illinois in three sets on Oct. 17.

Hannah Werth led Nebraska on the day with 15 kills and a .407 hitting percentage, while Morgan Broekhuis recorded 12 kills and had a .440 hitting percentage and Lauren Cook recorded 44 assists.

Northwestern is 16-13 on the year and holds a 5-13 Big Ten record. The Wildcats are coming off a weekend, where they beat Michigan 3-1, but fell to Michigan State in straight sets.
