Beebe Golf Classic approaching
CHADRON – The 18th annual Chadron State College Don Beebe Golf Classic will once again bring many alumni and friends of the college to town this weekend while helping support the Eagles' athletic programs.
The tournament will be played Saturday and Sunday at Ridgeview Country Club. Tee-off times are set for 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days.
The weekend will kick off with a live and silent auction at Country Kitchen in Chadron Friday evening. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and the auction starts at 7:30. Both are open to the public and non-golfers, free of charge.
The silent portion of the auction, featuring many diverse items from Chadron State and local businesses, also helps support the CSC athletic program. It will end at 7:30 when the live auction begins.
If you would like to bid on an item and are not able to attend, contact the Alumni Office at 308-432-6366.
Selected live auction items include autographed Danny Woodhead memorabilia, including a helmet and jersey, two Nebraska vs. Penn State football tickets, several golf packages, including Bayside Golf Course, South Suburban Golf Course, Foothills Golf Course and Meadow's Golf Course.
In addition, a two-night stay in a two-bedroom, two-bath condominium at the Charter in Beaver Creek, Colo., will be auctioned off. Value is at $1,200.
Other live auction items include signed baseball memorabilia, Denver Broncos items, featuring John Elway, and box seats to either the Colorado Avalanche or Nuggets.
Chadron State athletic passes and honorary coaching spots will also be up for sale.
Silent auction items include autographed Chadron State athletic photos and several items and packages from local businesses.
Non-golfers are also invited to attend the prime rib dinner Saturday night at Assumption Arena starting about 6:30 p.m. Reservations are preferred and may be made by calling 308-432-6366. The price is $20 per plate and tickets must be purchased prior to Saturday at noon.
"This is a great event for Chadron State College's athletic program," said Leslie Bargen, the Alumni and Foundation Office's Development Officer. "This is a wonderful time to reunite with alumni and get to know CSC fans and the coaching staff. All Eagle fans are welcome."
