Martinez wins another Big Ten award
The offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week and freshman of the week in the Big Ten for games on Nov. 3 were announced Monday.
Offensive Co-Players of the Week are Cody Latimer of Indiana and Taylor Martinez of Nebraska.
Latimer set or matched career highs in catches, yards and receiving touchdowns to help Indiana to a 24-21 victory over Iowa on Saturday.
Martinez guided the Huskers on two fourth-quarter scoring drives, erasing a 10-point deficit in the final frame for a 28-24 victory over Michigan State on Saturday.
Martinez also ran for 205 yards, the seventh 200-yard rushing performance in the Big Ten this season, and touchdown runs of 35 and 71 yards. He also passed for 160 yards, resulting in 365 total yards of offense, and two touchdowns, including the game winner with six seconds remaining.
Martinez wins his fifth career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award and fourth this season, tied for second most in a single season in conference history
The Defensive Player of the Week was Ryan Shazier of Ohio State. The sophomore linebacker had a game-high 14 tackles, including 11 solo stops in the Buckeyes 52-22 win over Illinois Saturday.
The Special Teams Player of the Week was Mike Sadler of Michigan State. The sophomore punter had seven efforts against Nebraska Saturday and averaged 46.5 points per kick.
The Freshman of the Week was Bri'onte Dunn of Ohio State. The running back recorded career highs with 13 rushes and 73 yards and added a touchdown in Ohio State's victory over Illinois on Saturday
