Huskers gain player from Tennessee
With the graduation of two All-American outside hitters in Gina Mancuso and Hannah Werth the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team was looking for some help at the position. They found it. Head coach John Cook announced Monday that senior Kelsey Robinson is transferring to Nebraska from Tennessee.
"Kelsey is a great addition to our team. She is a highly skilled outside hitter and accomplished beach player. She will bring experience, leadership and a competitive fire that will impact our team. We tried to recruit her out of high school and feel honored to have her finally be a Husker. Kelsey had many choices but ultimately chose Nebraska with the idea of being a part of history-the first season at the Devaney Center."
Robinson joins the Huskers after playing three years with the Tennessee volleyball program. She was the 2011 SEC Player of the Year and also earned second-team All-America honors as a sophomore. She most recently earned AVCA honorable-mention All-America accolades and was a first-team All-SEC pick in 2012.
Robinson stands 6-2 and hails from Bartlett, Ill. She joins two returning outside hitters listed on the roster, including Gordon-Rushville freshman Alicia Ostrander and freshman Kelsey Fien.
