Adams Central downs Cozad

The season opener for Cozad and Adams Central took place Friday night at Patriot Field with Adams Central coming out on top by a final of 17-0.
The 1st quarter was scoreless, but it didn't take long for Adams Central to get their first score on the game early in the 2nd quarter. The Patriots took
advantage of a bad snap on a punt when the punter's knee went down on the 10. Two plays, Jake Fowler went in from 4 yards out and added the extra point. Adams Central took advantage of a good kickoff return to start the third quarter and scored 3 plays later on a 17 yard run by Buzz Niederklein. The final scoring for Adams Central came in the fourth quarter when Jake Fowler sailed a 30yard filed goal through the uprights.
Cozad had a 90 yard kickoff return by Jake Paulsen called back on a penalty and otherwise never threatened on offense.
For the night, Cozad's Jake Paulsen rushed for 91 yards and the Patriot's Jake Fowler ended up with 136 yards, a touchdown, field goal and two extra points.
Cozad will be home September 7th against Mitchell.
