Arapahoe pulls away from Elm Creek
A strong second half propelled Arapahoe to a 47-32 victory over Elm Creek in the Girls D1-5 District title game on Friday night in Lexington. Elm Creek led 22-21 midway through the third quarter before Arapahoe used a full court press to eventually wear the Buffaloes down. The Warriors outscored the Buffaloes 17-8 in the final eight minutes to put the game away.
Arapahoe's Kaylea Watson scored ten of her game high 20 points in the second half and teammate Rochelle Wendland had a double-double as the Warriors are headed back to the Class D1 state tournament for a second straight year. Elm Creek which was making its first appearance in a district final since 2006 was led by Corinne Jonak who scored 13 points.
