The former Minatare Police Chief who filed as a write-in candidate for McPherson County Sheriff says he will be looking at other options after losing the election to the former Sheriff who doesn’t want the job.

Robert “Brian” McFarland lost the election in the small county to Tim McConnell, whose name is still on the ballot even though he notified the county last month he was resigning due to health issues.

McFarland told KNEB News by the time McConnell formally notifies the county he will not honor the election and the county takes applications for an appointment it will be early next year, longer than  he wants to wait for another law enforcement position. .

McFarland says he has other applications out and may have something concrete on another position by the end of the year. Until then McFarland says he is enjoying driving an ambulance for Valley Ambulance.
