A 45 year old man has been arrested in New Mexico on a Chadron warrant charging him with four felonies associated with attempted child enticement.
Chadron Police initiated an investigation on September 11th about an allegation of a minor child reporting they had been approached by a male named Derek, in his 40’s, to trade sexual favors for drugs in Chadron.
The minor child provided officers the adult male’s first name and an electronic conversation with the adult male. Chadron Police officers, over the course of several days, communicated electronically with the adult male named Derek.
As the investigation continued over several weeks, information was developed and it was learned that the phone number and a residence came back to an adult male identified as 45-year old, Ronald Atcitty. The Chadron Police Department learned Atcitty had resided in Chadron and had been working temporary employment in the area.
Investigator Brewer Newton attempted to locate Atcitty in Chadron, but learned Atcitty had left the area and was likely out of the state. The investigation expanded to multiple states and Investigator Newton obtained a felony arrest warrant for Atcitty while meticulously worked with other law enforcement officers across Nebraska, South Dakota, Colorado and New Mexico in an effort to locate him. On October 2, 2019, Atcitty was located in Farmington New Mexico where he was arrested on a felony Dawes County arrest warrant. Atcitty was arrest for the following offenses:
· Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class II Felony
· Attempted possession of Child Pornography of a class III felony
· Solicit Prostitution-under the age of 18, a class IV felony
· Enticement by electronic communication device, a class IV felony
