Gering Finance Director Resigns; Annexation Hearings Delayed

The City of Gering will be seeking a new Finance Director this new year.

Among the items on the agenda for Monday’s City Council meeting at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center is acceptance of the resignation of Renae Jimenez.

Jimenez had stepped into the role in July 2019 after a search that started when the Council voted against the re-appointment of John Mejia in Dec. 2018.

Not on the agenda as previously publicized are public hearings on annexation of about a dozen tracts of land in and on the edge of Gering city limits.

According to city officials, because of a legal description error and an incorrect public hearing date on the original publication for Resolutions 11-20-2 and 11-20-3, the hearings will be scheduled for another date and time to be noticed at a later date.
