Minor Injuries Sustained in School Bus Crash in Otoe County

Nearly two dozen students sustained minor injuries in a crash that involved a school bus and a Ford Fusion this afternoon near Dunbar in Otoe County.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., a westbound Ford Fusion was attempting to turn from Highway 2 onto southbound Highway 67 when it struck a Nebraska City Public Schools bus traveling eastbound on Highway 2. The bus was transporting 38 fourth-graders and four adults.

Two additional buses were traveling with the first bus. Those buses picked up the children and adults and transported all 42 people to St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City. 21 of the children were triaged as injured. All of the injuries are considered to be minor. 17 of the children and all four adults were uninjured.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, an adult female, was transported to the hospital in Syracuse with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
