As it was during the Thanksgiving holiday, the need for a meal during Christmas Day was elevated during the Christmas Dinner in the Valley event coordinated by Larry Massie, Melissa Turman and the Harvest Valley Church.

Massie says more than 1,000 meals were served during the event, with about 650 delivered and close to 375 picked up via drive thru at the church, as well as from the 11:13 Ministries van parked at the Guadalupe Center.

He tells us the pandemic did have an impact on volunteer numbers as well as requests for meals, with some of his regulars unable to help out this year.
Massie says coordinators are thankful for partners at Hiland Dairy who have been with them every year since 2003, as well as The Residency @Northfield Retirement Communities, who graciously provided all the pies, and Main Street Market for once again providing the boxes and bags needed for delivered meals.
