Lincoln — Nebraska tax revenues came in higher than expected in August, continuing a trend that’s lasted for several months running.
According to the Department of Revenue, gross tax receipts for the month were $689 million, which was 6.3 percent above the forecast, while net receipts were 4.8 percent higher than anticipated at $579 million.
Collections in corporate and individual income, as well as miscellaneous taxes, were higher than projected, while net sales and use tax revenue was down 6.6 percent on a net basis.
For the current fiscal year, net receipts total $889 million, about 3.4 percent above the certified forecast, however, net sales and use revenue is more than one percent lower than expectations.
