North Platte Visitors Bureau to host Tweet Chat

(North Platte, Nebraska, April 4, 2016) – What is a Tweet Chat and why would North Platte want to host one? “A tweet chat is a live Twitter event, usually moderated and focused around a general topic. To filter all the chatter on Twitter into a single conversation a hashtag is used.” The North Platte / Lincoln County Visitors Bureau is partnering with the Midwest Travel Bloggers community to host a Tweet Chat all about visiting North Platte on Wednesday, April 6 beginning at 11am CT.

As for why, Twitter has more than 305 million active monthly users, and it is increasingly used to market tourism destinations. Previous Tweet Chats showcasing similarly sized communities have generated more than 9,000,000 impressions of the conversations. The hosts are Tim and Lisa Trudell of @WalkingTourists and Sara Broers of @TravelWtihSara, two travel bloggers with the 233 member strong Midwest Travel Bloggers association.

Anyone is welcome to follow along on Twitter by following the hashtags #MWTravel and #VisitNP. Anyone with a Twitter account is welcome to participate by using the #MWTravel hashtag and share their knowledge about North Platte. The topic possibilities are endless – from our history to events, attractions, dining, lodging, and retail. The more participants there are, the more buzz will be generated.
To make it even more exciting, the Visitors Bureau is hosting a LIVE Twitter Party beginning at 10:30am in their office at 101 Halligan Drive. We have free WiFi, and the Tweet Chat conversation will be projected on a big screen. For more information, contact Ginger Ady at gady@visitnorthplatte.com.
