The 18-member panel conducting the search for the next president of Western Nebraska Community College is making progress in narrowing down the field of candidates.
Following a day-long meeting on the Scottsbluff campus Tuesday, search committee chair Lynne Klemke said she could not divulge the size of the original pool or the number of semi-finalists due to confidentiality, however she did tell KNEB News the search consultant, ACCT, indicated there was plenty of interest in the vacancy. “They were impressed with the number of candidates that applied, and the quality of candidates, and we were impressed as well,” said Klemke. “It led to a great discussion today (Tuesday), so every member of the panel could express their thoughts, concerns and preferences for candidates.”
Following a round of interviews over the next few weeks, Klemke says the committee will narrow the list, likely to three finalists, by the end of October.
The names of those finalists would be revealed in early November, ahead of candidate visits to the area for public forums, campus tours, informal meetings and final interviews with the WCCA Board of Governors.
The Board is anticipated to make their selection in late November, with a new WNCC President taking the reins after the start of the new year.
