Wyoming Refuses to Ask High Court to Accept Texas Elections Suit

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon announced Thursday afternoon his state would not join other states including Nebraska that have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a lawsuit filed by Texas over election procedure changes before the November general election.

Thirty-two seated and newly elected Wyoming legislators asked Gordon to join the case, however he said the suit could have “unintended consequences” that impinge on state sovereignty.

The case seeks to invalidate Electoral College votes in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where changes made to voting procedures did not go through state legislatures as required by the U.S. Constitution.

Gordon says if the high court takes up the Texas lawsuit, Wyoming officials will weigh in in a manner that is suitable and appropriate for the issues raised.
