WACO- With snowy and icy weather conditions comes slick roadways and the potential for accidents. The York Sheriff’s Department investigated two accidents that happened last night (Tuesday night) in the same area of Interstate 80 a mile west of the Waco interchange.
According to Alex Hildebrand, Investigator for the York County Sheriff’s Department, the first accident occurred approximately at 8:03 P.M. The accident involved two vehicles. A red Chrysler 300 sedan traveling eastbound, driven by Omera A. Munoz-Ceja of Omaha lost control due to the ice and crossed the median and crashed into a trailer being pulled by a Ford F-150. That Ford was driven by Steven H. Shaw of Bettendorf, Iowa.
No injuries were sustained. Weather conditions were blamed in the accident.
The second accident occurred at 9:52 P.M. according to Hildebrand. It was in the same area as the first accident. It involved a 1986 Chevy Pickup in the south ditch about 300 yards away from the road. The Driver was Richard Bedient of York. According to Hildebrand, the vehicle was westbound and lost control, it crossed the median, along with eastbound lanes, and entered the ditch.
Bedient suffered non-life threatening injuries. Slick conditions and alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
