(Listen) Girls B-4 District Golf: Scottsbluff, Gering’s Schlaepfer take home titles

Last Friday it was Gering on their home course finishing in front of Scottsbluff at the GNAC meet at Monument Shadows.

On Monday afternoon in the biggest tournament so far this season it was Scottsbluff surging back in front of Gering in the team standings to claim the title at the Class B-4 District Tournament held at the Crandell Creek Course in Ogallala.

Scottsbluff put together a team score of 335 to beat Gering by a total of six shots. The Bulldogs finished at 341. Ogallala, playing at home, really challenged in this one also, posting a team round of 345 for a third place finish.

Here’s the winning coach, Scottsbluff’s Brock Ehler, with thoughts on winning the title yesterday.

All three teams automatically qualified for the State Tournament next week.

While Scottsbluff got the team title it was Gering’s Madi Schlaepfer taking home the individual title with a round of 72. She birdied the 18th hole to lock up the title with a two-shot win over Scottsbluff’s Emily Krzyzanowski.

Krzyzanowksi finished second, shooting 74 on her round.

Avery Mitchell of Gering finished in third place (80) while Scottsbluff’s Anna Kelley was fourth (81). Gering also got a top ten finish from Ali Boswell (87).

The top ten individual finishers also qualified for the State Tournament, which will be held in Columbus next Monday and Tuesday.
