UNO Volleyball swept by Denver

DENVER, Colo. – The Omaha volleyball program fell in straight sets on the road to Denver by a score of 28-26, 25-19, 25-19, Friday evening inside Hamilton Gymnasium.

•    Sadie Limback’s team-high 11 kill gives her 15-straight double-digit kill matches.
•    Both Isabella Sade and Anna Blaschko notched eight kills apiece.
•    Omaha falls to 1-15 all-time against the Pioneers.
•    Denver takes the season sweep over Omaha as the team defeated the Mavericks 3-2 earlier this season inside Baxter Arena.

Denver opened the match on a 7-2 run, but the Mavericks countered with an identical run to even the score up at 10-10. The Mavericks led by as many as three (15-12) after a kill by Rachel Fairbanks. Denver, however, eventually came back and was able to retake the lead. The Pioneers had the set point on two different occasions but Omaha answered each point. Omaha eventually put itself in position for the set point, up 26-25, but Denver scored three-straight and secured the set point on a service ace.

Omaha led by as many as three (9-6) in the early-going of the second set. Omaha held 18-17 lead after a Limback kill, but that proved to be the last time the team led. Denver closed out the frame with an 8-1 run that included a 4-0 spurt sparked by three kills as Omaha fell 25-19 and went behind 2-0.

The Pioneers jumped out to an 8-3 lead, but the Mavericks fought back and cut the deficit to two (11-9). Later on, Omaha tied the set at 14-all on a 5-0 run capped off by a bad Denver set. The Pioneers answered and eventually built a four-point lead late in the match. A Kenzie Michalek ace and a Sade kill cut the deficit to three (22-19), but Denver ended the match on a 3-1 run and claimed the set 25-20 for the sweep.

Omaha finishes the regular season this Sunday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. The Mavericks stay on the road and travel to Brookings, S.D., where they take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. For more information, visit
