UNO Women sign two for 2020-2021

OMAHA, Neb. – Head women’s basketball coach Brittany Lange announced the signing of Lauren Frost and Katie Keitges to National Letters of Intent, Wednesday, Nov. 13, for the 2020-21 season.

“I am extremely excited for the talent, competitiveness and spirit of our 2020 class,” said Lange. “Both are skilled and talented guards who complement each other and our team very well.  I am confident Maverick fans will love watching these two compete.”

Lauren Frost | Brooklyn Park, Minn. | Guard | 5-8
Frost joins the Mavericks out of Park Center Senior High School where she is a four-year letterwinner for the Pirates. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native is in her senior season after her team finished 24-4 last year where she averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds en-route to all-conference honors. Throughout her career, Frost is a two-time all-conference honorable mention recipient and her teams have gone a combined 68-18 over the last three seasons. She also played AAU basketball for the Minnesota Fury. The point guard is also a multi-year letterwinner in soccer.

“Lauren is a special point guard and playmaker who is confident and brings an edge that you want floor generals to have,” said Lange. “She is long, athletic and crafty with the ball. She can create for herself and others and her skill set will allow her to be a three-dimensional scorer. I’m very excited for the dynamic element she can bring to our team.”

Katie Keitges | Knoxville, Iowa | Guard | 5-8
Keitges hails from Knoxville, Iowa where she is a four-year letterwinner at Knoxville High School. Currently in her senior year, Keitges is a three-time first team all-conference honoree, all-district and academic all-conference. She was also named second team all-state twice as a sophomore and junior. During her junior season, Keitges set her school’s single-game record for steals with 11 and surpassed 1,000 career points. Her 468 points last season also set a school record. A member of the National Honor Society and a three-time team captain, Keitges also lettered in volleyball and track.

“Katie is an all-around competitor and a very talented multi-sport athlete,” said Lange. “She brings toughness and is a tremendous defender already. Her work ethic and intangibles elevate her teams immediately.  She has versatility at the guard positions and has a very good three-point range to her game.”
